Buying a Floor Sofa Online: How to Tell What You Will Really Receive

To know what you will really receive, read the piece list, the filling, and the measurements on the listing, and check which option the photo shows. Most disappointments with floor sofas bought online come from one of these four, not from the product itself. If you want certainty about color and feel, order fabric and foam samples before the set.
Why are floor sofas hard to judge from a photo?
A floor sofa is a set of soft pieces. The same photo can show 9 pieces or 19, a foam-filled cushion or an empty cover, a 4-inch seat or an 8-inch one. Colors also shift between phone screens. None of this is hidden if you know where to look.
Check 1: How many pieces are in the option you are buying?
Every listing should list the pieces with their sizes. On our 8-inch L-shaped sets, for example:

If a listing only says "set" without a piece count, ask.
Check 2: Is it foam filled or covers only?
Some floor sofas are sold as covers to be filled locally. That lowers the price but leaves you sourcing foam yourself. Look for the words "covers only," "unfilled," or "foam filled." Check 3: Are the measurements given, in inches?
You need four numbers: length of each base, seat depth, seat height, and the full footprint. Ours are 75 x 27.5 inches per base, 4 or 8 inches high, with an L footprint of 102 x 75 inches. Tape the footprint on your floor before you order; our measuring guide shows how.
Check 4: Which option is in the photo?
Lead photos usually show the fullest version, with rug, ottoman, and floor cushions, because that is how the room looks finished. The starting price is usually for the sofa only. That is true on our own pages too. Before you add to cart, compare the option name with the piece list.
Check 5: What is the fabric, and can it be washed?
Look for the fabric type and a care instruction. Our covers are woven chenille jacquard with hidden zippers and are machine washable at 30°C (86°F). A cover you cannot remove is a cover you will be spot cleaning for years. See how to clean a floor sofa.
Check 6: What will you pay in total?
Add shipping, import duties, and any fee the carrier collects at delivery. With imported furniture, duties can be a meaningful amount if the seller has not prepaid them. Our US prices include UPS Express shipping, duties, and taxes: $0 at your door.
Check 7: Can you see and feel a sample first?
The surest way to judge color and firmness is in your own light, with your own hands. Frequently asked questions
Will the color look the same as on my screen?
Close, but screens vary in brightness and color balance. Deep reds and blues shift the most. If the exact shade matters, order the sample box and hold the fabric against your wall and floor.
Why does the sofa look flat when I first open it?
It is vacuum-packed for shipping. The foam returns to its full shape within 24 hours of opening.
How firm is the foam?
